Glories of reading Chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita

It is said that anyone who regularly reads the chapter 15th of the Bhagavad – Gita entitled The Purushottama Yoga, they can get faith in Krsna. This chapter is very powerful. Padma Purana mentions the glories of this chapter.

Once there was a great king and his goal was to unite the whole world under one empire. He did many pujas and yagnas. He had a very powerful General In – Chief. Together they fought the battle and united the world. After this the king did not engage in more wars as his mission was already accomplished. The King was very peaceful. He gave a big palace, some wealth and a Title like “ Lord “ to the General In-Chief. But the general thought that I should be the emperor of the world as I fought all the battles. Therefore he called for all the other Generals and together they made a plot to assassinate the king and take over the empire.

But the day before the assasination the General In- Chief died of Cholera. The soul was presented before Yamaraja . Yamaraja said You want to be the emperor but you do not have good karma to be the emperor of the world. It is not by endeavor you become King you need good karma. So Yamraja said you have the Karma to be the greatest, the greatest horse. All karma does not give us what we expect, it gives us what we deserve.

And one day a business man was travelling and he saw the horse. He found that this is indeed the best horse in the entire world. This should go for the emperor. He bought the horse with a great price and took the horse to the Royal Court. Everyone, the King’s minister and other Royal people checked the horse and found it to be the best horse. No one has seen such a best horse. The King also went and checked and found to the best horse. So the business man said the best horse should belong to the king. The king got the horse and he wanted to find out how good it was. One day the King along with other princes, ministers , nobels mounted on their horses and went to the forest for hunting. They saw a big ( indistinct may be Guru Maharaj said antelope ) and went running after it. They went deep deep into the forest. No one could keep up with the King’s horse and the king went deeper and deeper into the forest. The King became thirsty. He saw a stream of water flowing. He fed the horse water and himself drank the water. There he saw a sloka in the water on a palm leaf. The King read out the sloka. Right before his eyes the horse died and the soul came out. The King recognized that this was none other but his own Army General. The King asked “ what are you doing here?’’ The next moment the Vishnudutas came and took the soul back home back to Godhead.

The King became more curious. He followed the water stream and found its source to be on the top where he saw an Ashram. There were many Rishis. The King narrated the entire incident that happened as how his General came out from a Horse’s body and went back home back to Godhead after hearing the sloka. The Rishis told the King that this sloka is from the chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita and one sloka written on the palm leaf blew off today morning. The Rishis spoke to the King how his General designed a plot to overthrow him and take over the entire empire and be the emperor. Therefore Yamaraja made him the greatest horse. When your General heard the sloka he got purified from all his sins. Therefore he left the body and went back home back to Godhead.

The King asked why he could not go back home back to Godhead as he read the sloka. The Rishis replied that he was paying much attention. So from then onwards the King started reading the chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita every day. Eventually he too went back home back to Godhead. This is very powerful chapter.
