Surbhi Kunja situated in Godruma Dvipa is the place where Lord Nityananda started His Nama-hatta – Marketplace of the Holy Name. This Nama-hatta spread all over Bengal in due course. In later years Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur pioneered the Nama-hatta and did his bhajan in this place. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur describes the marketplace in his book Sri Godruma Kalpatavi
